23-24 Months: The Conversationalist

Our Ronan has become quite the conversationalist this month. Jim recently had the following conversation with him.

Jim: "Ronan, come by Daddy to get your teeth brushed."

Ronan: "No"

Jim: "What do you mean, no?"

Ronan: "I mean, no, Daddy!"

We both had a good laugh about that one.

We also recently went to Mr. Burger for dinner. They call out orders over the PA-system. We laughed so hard as Ronan called out "Hamburger Platter" over and over. It really sounded more like a really loud "aaammmburger platta".

Nugget has been having some accidents inside (not sure why) and Ronan makes sure he tells me "Nuggie, poop right there!" Followed by "No, no, Nuggie. Spankin's"

Ronan has also discovered some sense of direction. He will constantly say "Go that way!" when riding in the car. I drove by our road on the way to get groceries and he said, "No, Mama. Go that way!" and pointed towards home. I told him we needed to go to the store and he said "No store Mama!"

He can point to my belly and say baby. I try to get him to commit to a name, but he keeps calling it baby. He sometimes gets confused between boobies and baby, so I explained those two body parts to him. Soon after he decided to pat my chest (when I was picking him up at daycare) and tell the daycare girls "Boobies!".

Ronan is wearing size 5 diapers and 24-2T clothes. His shoes are size 6-7. This fall he will definitely need a size 7.

Doctor's appt this week, but current weight per our scale is 34.5 lbs!

He loves to eat applesauce, green beans, "muttons" aka muffins, fruit snacks, french toast, and sausage. He loves juice, as much as I try to get him to avoid it, he requests it constantly. "Orange juish, Mama!"

Having so much fun seeing the tractors and trucks-two of his favorite things.
Watching the truck and tractor pull with Auntie "Windsey".

In Alan's "big truck."

Ronan absolutely loved the fireworks this year. I thought that he might be scared, but he wasn't. He oohed and aahed and yelled and waved his arms. It was so cute!

Enjoying the PH fireworks.

Swimming in his 'bathtub" at Papa/Gma Pawlitz's.

Mom and Little Baby made it into this picture.

Ronan on an old tractor. He loves tractors, but wasn't in a very good mood for this. It was just too hot.

Daddy was getting Ronan with his cold pop. Lots of belly laughs.

We weren't sure how the Port Hope 4th of July Parade was going to go since it was right in the middle of Ronan's naptime. We tried to put him down twice to no avail. So then we figured we would keep him up until after the parade. Of course, he fell asleep in the 5 minutes it takes to drive into town. We thought he'd miss the whole thing. Papa held him before the parade started, but once the sirens went off his was up and raring to go, saying "big truck!"

So cute while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. He even had his own little chair.Ronan and Papa looking at the tractors.

In the tube with cousin Emma at Papa and Grandma's cottage on the 4th. Ronan had lots of fun swimming, going on the paddleboat, a sea-doo ride, and, of course, swinging his bat.
Ronan, Emma, and Logan

Ronan slipped and dunked his head under water. He wasn't a big fan of that!
Ronan's first sea-doo ride (that I know of). I was not a big fan of this excursion, but he seemed to like it. Jim said that he didn't say a word, he just had his big eyes focused on all the sights around him.

Ronan hunted fireflies with Daddy, Morgan, and Maddie.

Ronan with his arm around "Monkey". He has 5 stuffed animals and 2 blankets in his bed. He loves Monkey and Dog the best. He also has a blue dog, Jerry the Giraffe, and Bear. He is very original when it comes to names!

Ronan, Mom, and Auntie Lindsey went to the John Ball Zoo last Thursday. We had a great time. Ronan loved the animals. He especially liked the monkeys, fish, and the petting zoo. He saw a baboon and said "dog" and I said, "No, that is a monkey" and he said, "No, dog". He was very confident and insistent that what he saw was no monkey.

He liked brushing the goats.
Daycare Notes:

Recently I got a note from Ronan's teachers that said "Does Ronan not like pasta?" Apparently he picked all the hot dogs out of his mac n' cheese and wouldn't eat any of the noodles. It is too funny because he eats just about anything. I haven't heard of a little kid who doesn't like mac n' cheese, but at least he'll eat the hot dogs!

7/25/11 Today when I dropped Ronan off the girls said that he loves to run around and shout "cowabunga!". I had to laugh, what a nut.

7/18/11 Today Ronan ate cereal with milk, hot dog/pears/corn/milk for lunch, and goldfish and juice for a snack. Nap from 1200-0145. Read "Down by the bay", colored with cupcake crayons (?), did beach ball counting, and played with musical instruments.

7/11/11 Ronan ate cereal/milk, meatballs/pears/corn for lunch (pasta refused-Ronan always refuses pasta unless it is ravioli), string cheese/juice/pretzels for a snack. Read "Mary wore her red dress", made coffee art (coffee grounds everywhere-even between his toes!), played with play-doh, and looked for bugs (he loves bugs!). Nap time 1235-0215.

7/5/11 Ate cereal/milk, bread/applesauce/eggs/mixed veggies for lunch, vanilla wafers/milk for a snack. Nap time 1200-305 (he was tired out from the 4th!). Read "Llama, Llama, Misses Mama". Also played on the new playground and with stickers.

6/22/11 Ate cereal/juice, milk/pineapple/green beans/turkey/cheese sandwich for lunch, graham crackers and juice for a snack. Napped 1215-0205. Practiced zoophonics and counting stickers.
